Secured Cities Conference

Kenton Brothers would like to thank everyone who came out to the Truman Library last Friday, November 18th.  Without you, our Secured Cities event would not have been the success it was.  In addition, we would like to thank Anixter and OnSSI for the priceless information on what is becoming a very real need for municipalities:  comprehensive, integrated municipal surveillance.

The need to combine resources and personnel, creating the highest efficiency for every arm of local government is now; and the concept of ‘shared’ cameras with the ability for dispatchers to efficiently respond to events is now possible with software from Anixter and OnSSI.

Please consider this potential test case: the director of the Parks and Rec department sets a virtual trip wire from his desk surrounding a $150,000.00 new playground on the outskirts of town.  One Saturday night, a group of teenagers decide to loosen the bolts to the railings on this playground.  The second one of those teenagers crosses the virtual trip wire, an alert is sent to Police dispatch where a dispatcher now has a live view of the park.  The dispatcher attempts a remote talk-down, letting the would-be vandals know they need to vacate the premises immediately or an officer will be dispatched.

Typically, this would be enough.  However, for our purposes, let’s say the teenagers continue on with their plan to loosen the bolts.  The dispatcher can watch, in real time, the action on the playground.  He/She notifies a police officer in the vicinity of the event taking place, talking the officer through what is happening as he arrives on the scene.  The officer is now able to walk into the scene with full knowledge of how many vandals there are, where they are located, and what weapons they may be carrying.  No more walking into an unknown situation.  No more necessary patrols of outlying areas.  No more insurance claims for damaged playgrounds.

Of course, this is just one of dozens of applications for the products we have available.  Kenton Brothers can do a site visit and engineer a security system to fit your particular needs and problems.  To set one up, give us a call at 816-842-3700.

Kenton Brothers Hits Las Vegas For The International Security Conference & Exposition!

Representatives from Kenton Brothers visited Las Vegas, NV to join thousands of other security industry professionals at the International Security Conference & Exposition in early April.  The event took place April 6-8 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center, and featured over 10,000 products from 900+ manufacturers.

The main theme of this year’s event was the rapid advancement of new technology in the video and access control sectors.  The use of biometrics for access control seems to be gaining more attention.  Kenton Brothers currently offers biometric solutions like fingerprint readers and we’ve seen some very exciting advances in the biometrics field.  There is also some talk of seeing a biometrics system integrated with a time system available in the near future.

Team KB is super excited about all of the technological leaps that are being made in the security industry, and we’re proud we can share these products and services with our clients!

Securing Your House of Worship: A Kenton Brothers Learning Event

Houses of worship must balance the desire to maintain an open and welcoming environment with the need to keep the facility, its contents, its staff, and its members safe.  It’s a challenge we are working on with a number of clients to help them develop creative and effective solutions.

With several religious holidays in the months ahead, this is an excellent time to educate religious organizations on the importance of security plans for their places of worship while facilitating a dialogue between attendees on their own security ideas and concerns.

With that in mind, Kenton Brothers is planning a “Securing Your House of Worship” learning event for local religious organizations. The crime prevention workshop will be held this November in Kansas City and will feature guest speakers from local law enforcement agencies and the security industry.

Please share this with anyone you know that may be interested in attending this event. We will post more information on our web site and on Facebook as details are finalized. If you have questions or would like to participate, e-mail Penny Jackson at pennyj@kentonbrothers.com or call 816-842-3700.

Kenton Brothers: Securing Your World Since 1897

Executive Briefing – IP Video Surveillance

On Tuesday, Kenton Brothers held a lunch n’ learn at Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue in Kansas City.

We had a great time with so many of our valued customers, enjoyed the mouth watering barbecue, shared the latest IP Video Surveillance options, and discussed the ever-evolving technology trends within the security system…s industry.

Our CEO Gina Stuelke (http://www.linkedin.com/in/ginastuelke) welcomed everyone to the event and provided a brief introduction. That was followed by a PowerPoint presentation from VP of Sales, Ted Lischer (http://www.linkedin.com/in/tedlischer ) and Business Development Manager Jason Shields ().

The event highlighted how the emerging technologies of video analytics are able to change how camera systems are used to:
• Prevent or immediately respond to events rather than simply recording them
• Improve the productivity of security staff
• Increase the levels of customer service

The event was a great success and we’re looking forward to helping our customers with these innovative solutions!
