8 out of the 10 deadliest school shootings…..

……occurred within the last 15 years!!  And surprisingly–they weren’t in elementary schools or even high schools.  The worst and most frequent shootings were executed on university campuses.

The top 10 deciding factors when choosing a school for higher education, according to USNews and World Report from March of this year, were:

  1. Academic reputation
  2. Job placement
  3. Financial assistance
  4. Cost
  5. Social Activities
  6. A campus visit
  7. Size
  8. Acceptance into graduate school
  9. Graduating percentage
  10. Location

With over 7,000 colleges and universities to choose from in the US and with a cost of more than $165,000 for an undergraduate degree; it makes sense to evaluate a school not only on academics and social activities, but also on safety.  What measures has the college or university put in place to ensure your child’s safety from violent acts?  Are there psychological services to help students deal with stress, bullying, and mental strain?  Are there ballistic shelter’s available on campus?

Help Kenton Brothers establish a new deciding factor when choosing the school your child will attend for higher education.  One based on safety–will your child walk across that stage to accept his or her diploma?  Or will a campus tragedy forever change your child’s future?
