Employee Spotlight: Paul Rudkin

By Kristen Harper, Controller and HR Manager at Kenton Brothers

Kenton Brothers: Paul RudkinPaul Rudkin is Kenton Brothers’ newest hire to the Mid-Missouri Territory as an IT Field Technician. Paul developed an interest in security and technology from his father’s long standing, 20 year plus career in the industry. Being around his father gave Paul the opportunity to see and work on servers, cameras and miscellaneous technology equipment starting at an early age.

Paul has always enjoyed being in the technology game. He really enjoys fiddling and figuring out how to make electronics work well together. Taking this hobby to the next level is what drew him to Kenton Brothers initially. Now he gets to do what he loves as a profession.

Serving his family and his country

Outside of technology, Paul keeps busy by enjoying quality time with his family which includes two adorable twin boys. We’re proud of the fact that he supports the United States of America as an active Army Reservist. He also loves playing golf.

Kenton Brothers is happy to welcome Paul to our team.  And we look forward to a bright future together!

If you know someone that loves security and might be a good fit for our team, please send them to our careers page! We also have an excellent apprentice program.

Employee Spotlight: Bill Harris, Security Consultant and Application Engineer

By Kristen Harper, Controller and HR Manager at Kenton Brothers, talking about Bill Harris and the important role he plays as a security consultant and application engineer.

Kenton Brothers Systems for Security: Bill Harris Profile PhotoBill Harris has worked for Kenton Brothers for nearly 15 years. He’s grown through multiple areas of the company starting as a front counter technician. Then he made the move to service technician and grew to become the service department manager. From there, he took his current role as a sales application engineer. He specializes in hardware and electronic/remote releases and any other mechanical scenarios around a door.

A Police Officer?

Bill wasn’t always a locksmith. He started his career as a Police Officer for 10 years. And when interest rates shot up in the 80’s, he decided to look for a safe, stable career and found an interest in Locksmithing. Through the mentorship of a friend, and the Foley Bell Saw correspondence course, Bill’s start as a Locksmith had begun.

Throughout his tenure, he has held various positions of office in the Missouri Kansas Locksmith Association, including President.

In talking with Bill for this story, he said that he has gotten the most enjoyment in his current role as an application engineer. He likes solving customer problems and creating unique solutions to ensure everyone remains All Secure!

Bill is happily married to his wife Kay, and they enjoy camping at Smithville Lake in Clay County, Missouri. They love to spoil their three grandchildren. Bill also enjoys watching his favorite driver Kyle Busch in the NASCAR races.

Kenton Brothers has donned Bill “the Family Guy” because his dedication to his family, team and customers is amazing! We are so grateful to have Bill as part of the KB Family.

Mid-Missouri Team Spotlight: Stacy Wessing, Brian Nutt and David Potter

By David Strickland, Vice President of Kenton Brothers talking about our Mid-Missouri team.

Almost two years ago, Kenton Brothers decided to expand into the Mid-Missouri Market. We recognized that the market was under served, and needed direct and local representation.

Stacy Wessing

Our first team member in this effort was a highly respected sales engineer named Stacy Wessing. Stacy was a great fit for KB. He hit the ground running. Stacy was able to identify and create strong relationships throughout the Mid-Missouri corridor within a very short time.

Brian Nutt

We then identified a leader for the area in Brian Nutt. Brian came to us with more than twenty years of experience in the security industry and a positive “can do” attitude. He has lived and worked in the Mid-Missouri market for years and saw the vision of growing our presence from the very beginning. Brian believes in strong relationships and is passionate about taking care of his customers. He has to – many of those customers are also his neighbors!

David Potter

Fast forward about a year and the team was growing the market so fast they needed a full time technician in the field. KB welcomed David Potter, another veteran to the security industry. He has been “a lifesaver and miracle worker.” David is the type of guy that will work until the job is done. I personally worked with David on a project that went to almost 4am one day. He never complained. That type of dedication is rare at best and incredibly valuable.

This year, the team will exceed the two million dollar mark by maximizing relationships all over the state of Missouri. Some of their clients include, Missouri State University, The City of Columbia, The University of Missouri, Public School Retirement System, Diamond Pet food and the list goes on and on!

With Brian’s leadership, Stacy’s attention to detail and Dave’s work ethic, this team will continue to grow and make an even bigger impact on the Mid-Missouri Market. As we add additional like-minded technicians and support personnel, the sky is the limit in Mid-Missouri! As a matter of fact we have just recently hired another full time IT tech to support our customers. Paul Rudkin comes to us from the US Army and we are very excited to have him on board. We’re so very proud of this team! Please join us in congratulating them in their success!

Kenton Brothers Welcomes Chris Skinner to our Installation Team.

Kenton Brothers welcomes Chris Skinner to the team.By Will Zurcher, Installation Manager at Kenton Brothers talking about another addition to our installation team… Chris Skinner.

Chris Skinner is the newest addition to the Kenton Brothers installation team. His story is unlike most others that have found their home at KB. Chris and his wife Kathy previously lived in Westminster, CO just outside of Denver. They decided they wanted a change of pace. Chris started researching areas with prominent growth in the security industry. The Kansas City Metro was one of those areas. With family already living in the KC metro, they decided to make the move.

He’s worn many hats.

Chris has ten years of experience in the security space. He’s held many positions including inventory manager, safety manager, fleet manager and installation technician. Chris’s experience in those roles gives him a unique view on not only what we can do to help the field technicians be more efficient, but how the field technicians can help our office personnel be more efficient as well.

Surviving.

In Chris’s words he spends most of his free time “surviving” by raising his two sons that are 1 ½ and 3 ½ years old. While surviving, Chris enjoys fly fishing, bowling, golf and riding motorcycles.

We look forward to gaining a new perspective through Chris’s fresh eyes to help improve our internal and field operations. We know that will translate to more efficient and quicker service to all of our customers.

Kenton Brothers Welcomes Brinton Hallum

By Neal Bellamy, IT Director at Kenton Brothers, talking about hiring a systems engineer named Brinton Hallum.

Kenton Brothers: Brinton HallumBrinton Hallum is a Systems Engineer for Kenton Brothers. Brinton has been in the security and automation industry for 16 years, and his vast knowledge shows it. He’s had a huge impact on KB in the short time he’s been here.

Love of Electronics

Brinton has a love for all things electronic, just like his dad and brother. He remembers his dad always fixing his own electronics from replacing tubes on televisions to building the family’s first computer. Brinton also loves to create, build and improve. He’s upgraded his house with home automation, landscaping, cameras and is currently finishing his basement. Most of the time, he just wants to do it, because he hasn’t done it before.

Work and Play

Brinton plays as hard as he works. He loves spending time with his family. Whether traveling around the country or playing basketball with his son and daughters. The family likes to find new destinations to visit. They’ve been to several beaches in Florida, Estes Park, and are planning on Breckenridge later this year.

Biggest Accomplishment

When asked about his biggest work accomplishment so far, he talked about a recent installation with 525+ camera views and 2 video walls. He worked with the client to import the cameras, provide extensive training on views, maps and access control integration. The result is an impressive display of cameras and capabilities. It’s the single largest video wall installation KB has done, and Brinton was at the center of it all.

We look forward to accomplishing great things with Brinton and we are glad he is on our team!
