The KB Event Space – This is what all the buzz is about!

Kenton Brothers Event Space

By David Strickland, Vice President of Kenton Brothers

Last Thursday, Kenton Brothers Systems for security held its latest event with representatives from multiple industries including banking, property management, law enforcement, municipal government and small business owners from all over the Kansas City Area. The full house was introduced to Advanced Video Surveillance applications and the participant reviews were stellar!

One attendee commented “More! We more we need more of this!”

This is exactly what the Kenton Brothers family had in mind when designing the KB event space. We wanted a modern, comfortable, technologically advanced learning and education space. A space that could serve our customers regular doses of interactive security updates, technology introductions and of course great food and fun!

The speed of technology advancements in the security industry, and the demands on consumers time and resources, dictate that service providers like Kenton Brothers make it easy and convenient for decision makers to stay up to speed on current threat and remedy solutions.

Each event is planned to cover a topic that is relevant and timely.

We look at all facets of physical security and select topics based on customer feedback and input from our vendor partners. We want each event to be time well spent and valuable for the attendees.

Two of the best features of the KB Events are that they are free of charge, and that a Thelmas Kitchen lunch is included! That’s right, free lunch and value added topics! All that we ask is that you reserve your spot on our EventBrite page and that you please fill out an evaluation after the event so we can continue to improve our offerings. We will even gift you a swag bag for completing the survey!

Kenton Brothers hosts two events a month, and you can explore the next few months here…

Sign up today and please share the page with your colleagues. Hurry, as we only have 50 spots per session available. We look forward to seeing you soon!

It Didn’t Grow There… Kenton Brothers 2018 MacGyver Award

By Gina Stuelke, CEO of Kenton Brothers

Kenton Brothers - 2018 MacGyver AwardWe relived part of our history this week in thinking of Bill Kenton – some of you had the privilege of knowing him – the 2nd generation founding Kenton involved in the company from the time he was 12 until he passed away at 91 in 2010. In the early years of KB, he ran our service team and became known for his response when a tech would call in to the office and express frustration on a job.

He would say, “Well, IT DIDN’T GROW THERE – figure it out!”

So in his honor, in 2015 we created an award to pay tribute to the KB security professional who has the tenacity and creative problem solving aptitude to get the job done while overcoming any adversity they may encounter. I liken this ability to the famous TV show and character from the 1980s called MacGyver. MacGyver could pretty much solve any predicament with some ingenuity and the use of a paper clip or multi-tool Swiss Army knife!

The definition of ‘to MacGyver’ something at KB is to fix something in a resourceful and improvisational way. The 2018 prestigious ‘MacGyver award’ as voted by his peers went to Jeremy Shinneman.

Jeremy you’ve earned the title!  Thank you for being a great human and making KB look good!

Dance of the Dumpsters

By Kristen Harper, Controller and HR Manager at Kenton Brothers

One chilly, rainy morning I was walking through our beautiful new KB Truman facilities to take out a bag of trash. I made my way to our dock, opened the door to toss the bag in the dumpster and what to my wondering eyes did appear? Our dumpster was gone and our recycling dumpster was knocked over with recyclables scattered amiss….

My first thought… Why in the world would someone steel a trash dumpster? My second thought… Surely no one would take a trash dumpster. Maybe our waste services company took it for some reason. I decided to call them and check this theory out. Well, it was a poor theory. They didn’t come and take it, so who took our dumpster! It was the mystery to be solved.

Thank goodness we’re a top notch security company with only the best security cameras placed strategically “EVERYWHERE” I knew I would have my answer soon. Several people on our staff huddled around a monitor to watch surveillance videos. What we saw was magical.

Due to an unusually high amount of precipitation, the drains behind our facility had backed up. This created a three foot deep lake behind our building. Our two dumpsters performed the most glorious synchronized dance I’ve ever witnessed. It was like a real life version of Fantasia. We were mesmerized and just couldn’t look away.

The answer to where our dumpster went? It was behind the building the entire time… just a little further back than usual. The KB Missing Dumpster mystery has been solved. Please enjoy the amazing “Dance of the Dumpsters”.
